It's About Time!

Well, we actually got some snow last week. On Thursday we got about two inches, and it came down pretty fast! Courtney and I were really excited about it! It's so different up here though...You get two inches in Georgia and everything shuts down; Churches cancel their services, schools get out for a freakin week, but in Jersey-- it is just like a sunny day...except for the idiots who think they know how to drive in it. CRAZY!

Some snow is left on the ground even today...It's almost sad when snow starts to melt. Maybe it's just me, but the snow makes everything look so awesome, then it melts and you see all the trash on the side of the road (kinda disheartening).

I think I am going to try some new stuff this weekend for our worship service. The song Beautiful Jesus (Kristian Stanfill) has really been on my heart. I heard it once said that worship leaders sing too many "God" centered songs and not enough "Christ" centered songs. Now, let me clear something up before I get a bunch pissed off comments...there is nothing wrong with "God" centered songs, but we just need more songs about Jesus Christ. I thank God for worshipers like Kristian and Steve. If you have not heard Steve's "Beautiful The Blood" you need to check it out! This is what I am talking about...it's just straight up about Jesus and His sacrifice!

As a worship leader, I want to strive to play songs like these because they really paint an honest picture of what our worship to Him every week is all about. Just check out the lyrics below:

Beautiful Jesus: Kristian Stanfill
Verse1:
Your love O God, displayed for us
as crimson covered over sinless hands
Your majesty for all to see
in raging storms and
quiet cloudless days

Chorus1:
Beautiful Jesus
Beautiful Savior
nothing is greater
brilliant Creator
friend of mine

Verse2:
Your powerful above this world
the universe is under Your command
Your glory shines a holy light
that leads our hearts to praise
Your holy name is on our lips

Chorus2:
Beautiful Jesus, Beautiful Savior
nothing is greater, brilliant Creator
friend of mine
perfect in power, matchless in glory
nothing is greater, brilliant creator
friend of mine

Bridge:
My lips will sing, my heart will bring
praise to You, the holy King

Beautiful The Blood: Steve Fee

Verse1:
I never knew death could be so sweet
I never knew surrender could feel so free
I've never seen such meekness and majesty
that the blood of Jesus was bled for me

Pre:
Now, I'll sing freedom for all my days
It's only by the power of the cross I'm raised
the King of Glory rescued me

Chorus:
How beautiful the blood flowed
how merciful the love showed
the King of Glory poured out
victorious are we now

Verse2:
Never knew these nails would love unfold
never knew these wounds would heal my soul
never seen such beauty and sorrow meet
that the blood of Jesus was bled for me

Ending:
How beautiful You are
how merciful You are
how glorious You are
Christ our Savior
